Brad Miller scored a game-high 23 points while starting in place of injured center Yao Ming to lead the Houston Rockets to a 102-99 victory over the host Indiana Pacers on Friday.

Miller also had eight rebounds and five assists in a fine all-around performance as Houston improved to 2-6.

The Pacers had a chance to force overtime but Darren Collison missed a 3-pointer in the final seconds.

James Posey scored 19 points and made five 3-point baskets for Indiana (3-4).

Kevin Martin scored 20 points and Luis Scola had 16 points and nine rebounds for the Rockets.

Roy Hibbert had 18 points and eight rebounds for Indiana. Danny Granger scored 17 points, Mike Dunleavy tallied 15 points and Collison added 13 points.

Kyle Lowry added 13 points for Houston.

Ming injured his left ankle earlier this week and will be sidelined until at least the middle of next week.
