Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Gabriel Moreno and Geraldo Perdomo each hit a two-run home run as the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks earned a 9-5 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday in the opener of a three-game series.
Right-hander Brandon Pfaadt (7-3) gave up three runs on three hits over six innings as the Diamondbacks improved to 5-1 at Los Angeles since May 21, 2024. Shelby Miller got the last out for his fifth save as Arizona improved to 3-2 in the season series.
Mookie Betts hit two home runs and Shohei Ohtani added his major-league-leading 17th as the Dodgers saw their losing streak extend to a season-high four games.
Los Angeles rookie opener Jack Dreyer (2-2) gave up three runs over the first two innings and Landon Knack followed by allowing four runs on six hits in five innings. The Dodgers have allowed at least six runs in each game of the losing streak.
The Diamondbacks got the jump on the Dodgers when Eugenio Suarez hit an RBI double and Josh Naylor delivered a run-scoring groundout in the first inning. Arizona made it 3-0 in the second on a sacrifice fly from Perdomo.
The lead was extended to 7-0 in the third inning when Gurriel and Moreno hit two-run home runs against Knack. It was Gurriel's eighth and Moreno's second, with both against Los Angeles.
The Dodgers got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning when Betts hit a home run. Ohtani's homer came with one out in the sixth, and Betts followed with his second of the game to pull Los Angeles within 7-3. The two homers gave Betts eight on the season, while Ohtani has 10 of his 17 over his past 16 games.
Knack settled down by following with four scoreless innings before the Diamondbacks got their third two-run home run of the game from Perdomo in the eighth inning against Matt Sauer. It was Perdomo's sixth of the year.
Naylor had a home run taken away at the wall in the ninth inning by Dodgers right fielder Teoscar Hernandez, who was making his return from the injured list after recovering from a groin injury. Hernandez added an RBI groundout in the ninth and Tommy Edman singled home a run.
