Dodgers 13, Cardinals 4: Skip Schumacker and Andre Ethier each collected three hits and four RBIs as visiting Los Angeles used a six-run second inning as a springboard to its blowout victory.

Carl Crawford went 4-for-5 with an RBI single, Jerry Hairston Jr. drove in a pair of runs and Tim Federowicz had a career-high three hits as the Dodgers improved to 16-3 since the All-Star break and maintained a five-game lead over Arizona atop the National League West.

Ricky Nolasco (8-9) went only five innings for the victory, allowing three unearned runs on seven hits to improve to 3-0 in his last four starts versus St. Louis. Jon Jay collected three hits while Matt Carpenter and Carlos Beltran each had two and an RBI for the Cardinals, who fell three games behind first-place Pittsburgh in the NL Central Division.

Crawford led off the game with a line double off the pitching elbow of Cardinals right-hander Shelby Miller, ending the rookie's night after only two pitches. Jake Westbrook (7-7), Thursday's scheduled starter, made his first regular-season relief appearance in over nine years and was pounded for nine runs on 13 hits, including six and five in the second inning.

Hairston and Schumaker each had two-run singles in the second-inning outburst. The Cardinals got on the board in fifth with four consecutive two-out hits, including RBI singles by Carpenter, Beltran and Matt Holliday, but Schumaker and Dee Gordon had run-scoring base hits in Los Angeles' next at-bat for a 9-3 edge.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Miller, who was diagnosed with a contusion, said he plans on making his next start. ... Crawford improved to 12-for-26 in his career at Busch Stadium and is 11-for-26 in August. ... Westbrook gave up nine earned runs and 13 hits for only the second time in his career in a long night for St. Louis' bullpen, which featured backup C Rob Johnson getting the final out in the ninth. ... Dodgers SS Hanley Ramirez (shoulder) sat out his third straight game since he was hurt diving into the stands Sunday. Manager Don Mattingly said Ramirez is making progress and could be available for pinch-hitting duties for the weekend series with Tampa Bay.
