Indians 14, Phillies 2: Carlos Santana and Mark Reynolds each clubbed two-run home runs while Ryan Raburn belted a pair of homers for the second straight contest as Cleveland registered seven in all to pound visiting Philadelphia.
Lonnie Chisenhall, Michael Brantley and Drew Stubbs also went deep for the Indians, who have won three straight by a combined score of 33-5. Zach McAllister (2-3) turned in his longest outing in his last 14 starts, allowing two runs and five hits over seven frames.
Roy Halladay (2-3).was tagged for eight runs and nine hits over 3 2/3 innings, surrendering three home runs for only the 12th time in 383 career starts. It also marked the first time in his career the two-time Cy Young Award winner allowed three homers with a runner on base.
Cleveland wasted little time roughing up Halladay in the first as Santana and Reynolds hit the first of five two-run home runs. Delmon Young, who was activated off the disabled list earlier in the day, responded with a solo shot in his first at-bat of the season to cut the deficit to 4-1 in the second.
Chisenhall homered in the fourth and Cleveland ended Halladay’s night when Asdrubal Cabrera’s two-run single stretched the margin to 8-1. The Indians added two more two-run shots in the fifth from Raburn and Brantley and completed the onslaught when Raburn and Stubbs went back-to-back in the seventh.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Cleveland hit seven homers in a game for the fourth time in team history, posting its first such game since going deep eight times against the Seattle Mariners in 2004. … Six different Indians hit home runs – matching the most players with a homer in a game by the team in the last 95 seasons. … Santana went 1-for-2 with three walks and finished the month with a .389 batting average, breaking Sandy Alomar Jr.'s record for the highest April batting average by a catcher in franchise history.
