Dodgers 4, Cubs 0: Ricky Nolasco matched a season high with 11 strikeouts over eight stellar innings and Hanley Ramirez belted his second homer of the series as host Los Angeles won the rubber match of the three-game set.

Andre Ethier also went deep among his two hits and Skip Schumaker added an RBI single. Kenley Jansen struck out the side in the ninth to preserve the win for the Dodgers, who increased their lead to 9 1/2 games over Arizona in the National League West.

After hurling a two-hit gem over eight innings against Boston on Friday, Nolasco (11-9) allowed three hits Wednesday to improve to 6-1 in 10 starts since joining Los Angeles. The 30-year-old, who also struck out 11 against the Diamondbacks on May 19, fanned a career-high 16 versus Atlanta on Sept. 30, 2009.

Ramirez continued his brilliant series in the first inning after depositing a first-pitch fastball from former Dodger Edwin Jackson (7-14) over the wall in left field for his 15th homer. Ramirez also went deep in Monday's 6-2 series-opening victory while collecting three hits and scoring twice in Tuesday's 3-2 setback.

Ethier belted a solo shot in the fourth inning, jumping on a 1-1 changeup for his 10th homer - and first since Aug. 18. Los Angeles doubled the advantage in the following inning as Jackson's throw to third sailed high allowing Juan Uribe to score before Schumaker's RBI single plated Tim Federowicz.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Chicago manager Dale Sveum was ejected by first base umpire Lance Barksdale after arguing a checked-swing call against Los Angeles leadoff batter Yasiel Puig. It was Sveum's sixth ejection of the season. ... Puig was pulled from the game prior to the fifth inning and replaced in right field by Schumaker. The team said the disciplinary move was made due to a manager's decision. ... Jackson, who began his career with Los Angeles, fell to 0-3 in his last five starts after permitting four runs (two earned) on six hits in 6 2/3 innings. ... Los Angeles will enjoy an off day before resuming its nine-game homestand Friday with the opener of a three-game set versus San Diego. Chicago will begin a nine-game homestand Friday with a three-game series against Philadelphia.
