Light-hitting Alberto Gonzalez singled home the lone run and Cory Luebke pitched six shutout innings as the San Diego Padres beat the host Seattle Mariners and tough-luck Doug Fister 1-0 on Saturday.

Cameron Maybin drew a one-out walk in the fifth, advanced to second on a groundout and scored on Gonzalez’s hit that shortstop Brendan Ryan couldn’t come up with as San Diego beat Seattle for the first time in five meetings this season.

Fister (3-9) gave up one run and six hits while pitching his third complete game of the season. He struck out seven and walked one.

Luebke (2-2) allowed two hits, struck out seven and didn’t walk anyone as the Padres won for the eighth time in 10 games.

Chad Qualls, Mike Adams and Heath Bell all pitched hitless innings of relief with Bell closing it out for his 24th save.

Fister’s walk to Maybin was tainted as replays showed the San Diego center fielder was awarded first base after ball three.

Gonzalez entered the game with a .210 average and was in the lineup because regular second baseman Orlando Hudson suffered a knee injury Friday.

Greg Halman had both Seattle hits.
