Chris Carpenter pitched his first complete game of the season and Albert Pujols doubled in a run as the St. Louis Cardinals took down the Colorado Rockies, 6-1, on Thursday.

Skip Schumaker added two hits and an RBI and Mike Pagnozzi drove in a pair for the Cardinals, who have won six of eight.

Carpenter (16-9), who entered the contest with losses in each of his last four starts and 7.17 ERA during that span, was back on top of his game against the Rockies, allowing four hits and one run while walking one and striking out four.

Jason Hammel (10-9) was not nearly as sharp for Colorado, allowing a run on Pujols’ double in the first and two more in the second on hits by Brendan Ryan and Schumaker. St. Louis added two more runs in the third to end Hammel’s night and put the game out of reach.

Troy Tulowitzki had one hit but did not drive in a run. He needs three RBIs in the last three games to match Babe Ruth’s record of 43 in September.
