The Kansas City Royals smacked 18 hits en route to an 8-2 win over the Chicago White Sox on Saturday.
Gregor Blanco, Kila Ka’aihue, and Wilson Betemit all had three hits for the Royals. Every Kansas City starter except shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt had at least one base knock. Brayan Pena finished with two hits and a pair of RBIs.
The Royals were 8-for-20 with runners in scoring position, leaving 13 men stranded.
Detroit starter Edwin Jackson (3-1) was roughed up for six runs on 13 hits over five innings of work, striking out three and walking one.
Kansas City starter Kyle Davies (8-9) was solid all night for the Royals. He left after six strong innings, giving up one run on six hits while striking out five and walking two. Gil Meche and Joakim Soria came out of the pen after Davies exited.
Paul Konerko had a double and his 34th home run of the year for Detroit.
